Most upholstery dries within two to six hours, though thicker fabrics and cooler, humid days can extend this to overnight. Good airflow speeds things up considerably, so we suggest opening windows or running a fan afterwards. We keep the fabric appropriately damp rather than saturated, which shortens drying time and reduces the risk of moisture problems in the padding beneath.
For most households, professional cleaning every twelve to eighteen months keeps upholstery in good condition. Homes with pets, young children, or heavy daily use often benefit from every six to twelve months. Regular maintenance like vacuuming and blotting spills promptly extends the time between deep cleans and helps the fabric wear more evenly over the years.
We can often improve or fully remove many stains, but honesty matters here. Older marks that have set, or those from dyes and bleach, may not lift completely because they can permanently alter the fabric. We always test first and set realistic expectations during the inspection, then apply targeted treatment matched to the specific stain and material for the best possible outcome.
For furniture you use daily, yes. Professional cleaning reaches grime, oils, and allergens that home methods leave behind, and it removes abrasive grit that wears fabric out early. Replacing a good sofa costs far more than maintaining it, so regular cleaning protects your investment while keeping the piece looking and feeling fresh. Fabric protection treatment can add even more value.
Cleaning removes existing dirt, stains, and odours from the fabric, restoring its appearance. Protection is an optional treatment applied afterwards that coats the fibres so future spills sit on the surface longer, giving you time to blot them before they soak in. Cleaning addresses what is already there, while protection helps prevent new staining and makes ongoing fabric maintenance easier.
We work with most common upholstery fabrics including cotton, polyester blends, microfibre, and many natural fibres. The method we choose depends on the material, which is why we test before cleaning. Some delicate or specialist fabrics such as certain silks or antique pieces need caution, and we will tell you honestly if a piece falls outside what we can safely treat. Feel free to contact us with details.
The final price depends on the size and type of furniture being cleaned, the current condition and level of soiling, and the fabric material. Delicate or specialty fabrics may require different cleaning methods than standard upholstery. The number of pieces and their accessibility within your home also affects the overall cost of the service. We assess the job and provide a written quote before any work is booked.
