Top Beaches to Visit in Rockingham for Diving, Snorkeling, and Swimming

The lovely city of Rockingham is sought after for its shallow-water, safe and calm sandy beaches. Some of the ideal beaches within the area include safety Bay, Warnbro, Port Kennedy, Palm Beach, Rockingham Beach and Waikiki Foreshore. Rockingham is located around 47km south of Perth; a comfortable drive through the Kwinana Freeway or even easier train ride from the Esplanade Station of Perth on the Mandurah line. Following are some of the wonderful beaches that the Rockingham area provides.

WARNBRO BEACH

With its majestic native gardens and Norfolk Island pines, Warnbro Beach is one of many gorgeous beaches of Rockingham. You can stop at a nice park close the junction of Malibu Roads and Safety Bay, where the facilities are good, with enough sheltered picnic and parking facilities. For kids, there’s a beautiful playground and basketball hoop, while adults will surely love outdoor gym facilities.

SHOALWATER BAY

Shoalwater Bay is a lovely locale and is the nearest beach to Penguin Island. Further, the foreshore park has enough of good facilities for day visitors that includes lots of picnic tables, parking, public toilets, and playgrounds. The beaches here are wonderful, with magnificent views over Penguin Island as well as other rock outcrops that are a portion of the Shoalwater Island Marine Park.

ROCKINGHAM BEACH

Being the main beach of the town, it was more developed than the other ones; however, all of them was extremely stunning with plenty of good quality facilities for people. Even though it was quite busy sometimes, the mood was beautiful; dynamic, yet friendly and laidback. Moreover, Churchill Park, the big and famous foreshore reserve that extends along the beach is wonderful, and big mature trees offer enough shade, even during hot days.

POINT PERON

The majority of Point Peron, a rough peninsula jutting out into the Indian Ocean is a portion of the Peron Foreshore Park. This is still another majestic paradise for enthusiastic cyclists and walkers, with enough of paths crisscrossing the reserve. You will find some attractive secluded beaches here as well, though some are rocky.

SAFETY BAY BEACH

Located in the northern part of Warnbro Sound, the beach located at Safety Bay was picturesque along with stunning views over the open sea. Like all of Rockingham, it has a very friendly, relaxed vibe and would be an ideal place to spend some time during a holiday, with many excellent playgrounds for children.

For those who want to sail, there is a yacht club available here. You’ll also find some parasailers and sailboarders. It’s a paradise for cyclists and walkers, and the path extending the foreshore is one of the enjoyable things you will see here.
